The Championships will be based at the world famous Royal Western Yacht Club (RWYC) at Queen Anne Battery Marina on the North East corner of Plymouth Sound and 2 minutes from the historic Barbican district with its wide selection of bars and restaurants. |

The social centre will be at The National Marine Aquarium some 2 minutes from RWYC and the main event hotels. The venue is easily accessible by road from the A38/M5 with ample secure parking for all cars, boats and trailers. The venue is 20 minutes away from Plymouth City Airport, operated by Air South West and the International Ferry Port operated by Brittany Ferries. |

Plymouth is the largest city (250,000) in the South West of England. It nestles in an area of outstanding natural beauty, with Dartmoor National Park to the north, the natural harbour of Plymouth Sound to the south and the rivers Plym and Tamar on either side. |

It is a large naval and commercial port with direct ferry links to France (Brittany/Roscoff) and Spain (Santander). There are many hotels of all classes close to the venue and the Old Town (Barbican). |

In addition to the World Offshore Rowing Championships in 2009 Plymouth is host to a number of high profile events - including the Tall Ships Races, the Single Handed Transatlantic Yacht Race, the World Championship Class 1 Powerboat Races the International Fireworks Championships, as well as smaller, locally based events and festivals. |
